In 1969 - journalist, songwriter, and later Knesset member 'Akiva Nof' had a rare meeting with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, who were staying at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam as part of their demonstration for world peace. Nof, wearing pajamas, joined Lennon and Ono in bed and recorded an interview where they discussed their views on peace, the hippie movement, God, and love. The play Double Fantasy is based on a recreation of this interview, taking place once again in bed – this time in the Peacock Suite at the Arabesque Hotel in Acre. The royal couple is portrayed by David Maayan and Smadar Yaron – former partners and creators with a legendary status, essentially the John and Yoko of the Israeli fringe scene. Meanwhile, Akiva Nof of the past is played by Akiva Nof of today, aged 87.
The play is interwoven with original string arrangements of hits by John, Yoko, and Akiva, and the audience is invited to join in the chorus.
